Outline

We managed the Hospitality Village for the World Aquatics Championships, serving 150,000 people in a 16-day festival.

Case

Iventions designed, delivered and managed a Hospitality Village for the World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona, including VIP and public hospitality areas, sponsorship stands & pavilions, entertainment and staff dining facilities. For more than two weeks, thousands of people from different countries and cultures met to attend the most important competition of the disciplines of FINA (swimming, water polo, diving, synchronized swimming and open water swimming).

With the experience of managing the greatly successful UEFA Champion’s League Finals ‘Champions Village’ under our belt, we designed an astounding World Aquatics Championships Village. At the biggest sport’s event in Spain that year, we served 150,000 people in a 16-day festival. Our Village became a reference area of the city’s social life during the World Aquatics Championships. Regarding engagement and sponsor participation, this was the most impressive public Hospitality Village we ever built.

Work process

Through our great relationship with FINA and the city of Barcelona, Iventions won the opportunity to create the public Hospitality Village for the World Aquatics Championships. We built an enormous and inviting village, capable of having more than 150,000 guests. In addition, various sponsor suites were created: stunning, engaging spaces for the best sponsors, such as Tokyo 2020, FC Barcelona, Nikon and Speedo. Nikon’s exhibit space, for example, consisted of a photography studio and featured promotional material, product display and engagement with the public.

The World Aquatics Championships were set up in the main Olympic Cluster of Barcelona. One central stage provided the thousands of guests and volunteers with live entertainment, fun activities and celebrity appearances. Next to the brands we created experiences for, we also worked with FINA to organise the FINA World Congress and their official gala dinner. Various Spanish notables attended this dinner, under which the Royal House of Spain. We managed the logistics and were fully responsible for their security.

Iventions was responsible for the complete commercialisation of this event, creating our own cash free payment system with tokens.
