UEFA European Club Football Season Kick-Off

Istanbul

Outline

For the start of the 2021-2022 Season, we dressed and decorated the host venue of the UEFA European Club Football Season Kick-Off event.

Case

The draw of the various European football club competitions is an extremely important kick-off to the European football season with guests, media, clubs and fans eagerly awaiting their group stage opponents. The competition draws which took place were the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Conference League.

The competition draw occured at the Haliç Congress Centre of Istanbul, taking full advantage of the amazing views towards the city and Bosphorus river.

Given the high-profile guests and importance of this kick-off event, our meticulous precision and detail was key to ensuring the event ran flawlessly. Our challenge was to re-create a traditional local market feel and combine it with football decorations, making sure the space looked perfect for the celebration of this first season event.

It was a pleasure to work with Iventions and to have your team onsite.

We created an authentic atmosphere that honours the Turkish culture

Facts

  • 1-day event
  • 3 European football competitions
  • 120 guests
  • 1200 sqm

Aspects

  • look & feel concept
  • project management and planning
  • space design & decoration
  • custom-made structures
  • traditional decorative items
  • on-site logistical management
  • re-use of produced items

Re-using decorative items from previous UEFA Champions League Final productions meant that we were able to give this event a more sustainable aspect.

Work process

After storing our production from the Champions League Finals 2021 edition that got relocated, we managed to re-use the produced items for the UEFA European Club Football Season Kick-Off, also hosted in Istanbul.

Here we re-created a Grand Bazar environment and decorated the dinner area; all of it in a short amount of time given the last-minute constraints. From traditional mosaic lamps to huge custom-made football chandeliers with neon lights, we only used carefully designed, selected, and produced items from our local network of suppliers.

Apart from taking one more step towards more sustainable events with the reutilization of decorative materials, we also generated a positive local economic footprint by providing only locally sourced materials.

Storing and re-using our previous production is what allowed us to quickly respond to UEFA’s requirements.
